10 mental traps you need to watch out for

Overview
Most often than not, we allow our brain dictates our response to matters around us without processing the situations consciously. This can be very misleading and frankly, it is a wrong way to live as a human. The brain works by connecting thoughts, ideas and occurrences together therefore interpreting actions directly and automatically. This phenomenon is what is defined as a Mental trap. The journey to happiness and full productivity is one that requires a lot of self-examination and self-awareness. You deserve to live a great life and the points below will change your life completely.

10 mental traps you need to watch out for.

Emotional reasoning: Using your emotions as evidence for truth is one trap we should look out for in ourselves. It occurs effortlessly in everyone but by practising self-awareness, you would be able to correct yourself and consciously reason things out. This is very important because being emotional will hinder you from making reasonable judgements.

Blaming: Seeing other people as the cause of problems and never yourself is another trap you should look out for. The tendency to shift the blame on others when things don't work out as they should and not take personal responsibility is an instinct in all humans which should be corrected.

3. Envy: The feeling of sadness when others are making headway in life is a dangerous trap. It also morphs itself as the attitude of comparison or jealousy. You need to consciously watch out for this and make sure it is dealt with immediately it is sensed. Here's a very good solution to this

Pessimism: Expecting things to turn out bad is a mental trap that has caused many people their happiness. They just always expect the worse outcomes. This not only holds one down but also turn other people away because no one wants to be constantly around a nay-sayer.

Fallacy of fairness: Here's one where 90% of people fall into. Always expecting situations to happen according to your judgment of fairness is a trap that would leave you unhappy because many other factors that could determine how a situation turns out and so expecting it to work according to what is fair alone won't work.

Taking yourself too seriously: Sometimes, it's good to let things play out themselves and not always trying to bend everything and everyone to your will. Thinking you should always have your way is a mental trap that should be dealt with before it ruins your relationships.

Inflexibility: When you find yourself stuck on a task, leaving it for another task would help you make great use of your time and increase your productivity. Trying to complete one task before going to another even when you are stuck on it is a bad practice that needs immediate corrections.

Holding on: This is easier said though, but if you would let go of memories that hurt you which you're still holding on to,  you'll be doing yourself a huge favour of creating space for happiness.

Giving yourself up: Subjecting your life to the influence of other people's deeds can be destructive but changing that mindset is not just an empowering act but one that puts you in control of your life's decisions.

What will be: This school of thought has hindered many people from reaching their full potential and it's not true at all. You are a product of your decisions. Things just don't happen unless you have taken a step in that direction. Take a step today!

Conclusions
Mental traps are instinctive thought patterns and actions and it requires conscious effort to change them. They hinder happiness and productivity but interestingly, the keys to your freedom are right on the palm of your hands.
