Healthy Tips For Hot Seasons

"Humanity faces many threats but none is greater than climate change...In damaging our climate we are becoming the architects of our own destruction. We have the knowledge, the tools and the money (to solve the crisis)"
                             - Prince Charles of Britain

Overview
For a better Earth, climate change and global warming have to be taken more seriously by everyone. With increasing emissions of Carbon dioxide(CO²) and other air pollutants, we risk the production of more heat-trapping greenhouse gases into the Earths atmosphere. There's an obvious change in the pattern of annual rainfall, a number of rainfall per year, land encroachment and heat pattern every year and it could get worse if the necessary actions are not taken.

By definition, Global warming is the increasing human-produced temperature of the Earth. The temperature of the Earth is said to have increased 0.2 Celcius per decade since the Pre-industrial era (the 1950s). This makes it clear that global warming is mostly a man-made problem and unless we do better, it will only get worse.

Reports say that:
"Between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths per year, from malnutrition, malaria, diarrhoea and heat stress alone. The direct damage costs to health are estimated to be between USD 2-4 billion per year by 2030."

There's a lot you as a person can do to contribute to the needed change like:

• Stop indiscriminate burning.
• Support green innovations; Ideas and practices that encourage a green Earth and cleaner atmosphere.
• Practice proper disposal of plastic and nylon wastes.
• Keep a clean environment and
• Advocate for Climate change.

Although, natural causes also contribute to climate change, for example, volcanic eruptions and internal variability.
Meanwhile, since the problem of increased heat season is here already, here are some healthy tips for the season:

Healthy Tips For Hot Seasons

1. Drink a lot of water:
Drink cold water. It is important to hydrate properly because more body fluid is lost through sweat during the heat. Water also helps the body function optimally.

2. Eat fruits:
Salads and fruit diet provide the body with additional hydration. Fruits like watermelon and cucumber have high water content.

3. Wear light-coloured cloth:
Light coloured and loose-fitting clothes should be worn to prevent trapping heat and allow free movement of air around the body.

4. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight:
Try as much as possible to stay indoors during the hours of 11 am - 5 pm and if you would step out, you should use sunscreen.

5. Take multiple showers:
Taking showers two or three times a day will keep your skin cool and prevent the feeling of discomfort during the day or when sleeping at night.

6. Keep your house cool:
Making sure there is cross-ventilation around your house is important during heat season. Periodically turn off the fan or an air conditioner to keep your house cool.

Conclusion
2020 tied with 2016 as the warmest years in the history of mankind and 2021 may be worse, you may have noticed irregular winds, rainfall and storms by now. Following the tips listed above will help you stay healthy and safe. Remember, the bigger picture you need to consider is how to contribute to the reduction of the burning of fossil fuels and emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
No step is too little!

Please share with your friends and loved ones. Stay safe!
